The Difference Between Polyacrylamide (Anionic) and (Cationic)
Jul 07, 2023Polyacrylamide anions and cations are very different, they are polymer flocculants, anions and cations of their two different models, they can not be mixed, mixed use will react, lose the effect of the agent.
Anionic polyacrylamide is mainly used for flocculation, sedimentation and clarification of various industrial wastewater, such as sand washing wastewater, coal washing wastewater, electroplating wastewater, steel plant wastewater and other sewage treatment. They are due to the fact that its molecular chain contains a certain number of polar groups, which can bridge the particles by adsorption of solid particles suspended in water or condense the particles to form large flocs through charge neutralization. Therefore, it can accelerate the settlement of particles in the suspension, and has a very significant acceleration of solution clarification.
Cationic polyacrylamide is mainly used in industrial solid-liquid separation. Cationic polyacrylamide is suitable for sludge dehydration and organic sewage flocculation. They adsorb a number of negatively charged suspended particles in sewage on its chain through electrostatic action, so that dispersed and smaller suspended particles condense together, so as to achieve the purpose of solid-liquid separation. The main application industries are: urban sewage treatment, slaughterhouse, farm, paper industry, food processing industry, petrochemical industry, dyeing industry and sugar industry and various industrial wastewater treatment.
The main difference is that anion can be the best for flocculation and sedimentation, and cation can be the best for solid-liquid separation and mud pressing.
